Plenty of Firewood

Print PDF

You might have heard that the Environment Agency has stopped Youlsbury Scout campsite burning wood from pallets.

At Parkwood we have plenty of wood, natural dead wood, available across the site.  In many cases the dead wood is very close to individual camping areas.

Until the situation with respect to the use of pallet wood has been resolved the wood-pile at the back of the car park will be closed.  Please collect your firewood from the wooded areas of the site but remember that cutting green live wood or damaging trees is not permitted.

Lights go out at Parkwood

Print PDF

Earth, hour logo/WWFBrighton Scouting did its bit for the WWF EARTH HOUR on Saturday 29th March.

Cub Scouts from the 30th Brighton Tiger and Eagle Cub Packs held their indoor campfire lit only by their wind up torches while all power was turned off. During a weekend full of conservation work the packs also cleared leaves from the grass at the entrance to Parkwood as well as a thorough litter sweep which turned up some very unusual objects to say the least!

By the end of the weekend all the cubs had achieved their global conservation badge, whilst coming up with some ingenious ideas for raising some funds for the WWF! The cubs organized a save it campaign and sold promotional stickers to their unsuspecting leaders as well as creating some very eye catching posters etc.

Despite very muddy conditions the Cubs had a great weekend.
